Designed in the contemporary style, the new £3.9M building provides 2No drama studios, 1No dance studio, 3No art classrooms, 3No media classrooms and school administration spaces, located around a central atrium which provides circulation spaces between floors and classrooms and also a blank wall for the school to display pupil artwork.
The new building is located at the front of the school site on open soft ground and is designed to facilitate future extensions when funding permits.
Additionally, the location of the new building permitted future redevelopment of the existing dated school buildings through either remodelling or a phased demolition and re-build.
To achieve the tight delivery programme required by the Local Authority and funding body, the project was
procured through a two stage tender process with the preferred contractor brought in at RIBA Stage 4. This enabled the timely delivery of the technical information package and agreement of the tender cost, and ensured that the construction works were completed on time and budget.
